Massage therapists regularly see clients living with anxiety, depression and other mental health issues. This elective covers respectful, recovery-oriented support and knowing when to refer.

- Work with at least 3 people with mental health issues in ways that support empowerment and recovery, adapting communication and services to their needs.

- Recovery-oriented practice, early intervention, rights and social inclusion.
- Historical, social, political and economic contexts of mental health.
- Your own attitudes, myths and facts, stigma and discrimination.
- Types of mental illness and existing support services.
- Responding to mental distress or crisis and when to refer.
